今年《中国戏剧》第8期刊载了吴小如先生《耳食祛妄》一文,对我和我的工作武断“定性”:“据我所知,这位朋友(指我)曾在某京剧团工作,道听途说,零打碎敲地获悉一些梨园掌故;为了想多了解一些京剧方面的轶闻琐事和旧社会情况,他曾走访了不少人,然后就其所闻,七拼八凑写成文章。久而久之,俨然也成‘品戏’名家了。”然后又从我的某些散发于报刊的“闲章”中找出三件“错误”的事实来加以印证。奇怪的是,经我仔细一看,吴文指责的“错误”事实不但全然站不住脚,论证问题的方法也并不科学。为此,我不得不答复如下:
