Objective To investigate the significance of the detection of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in the prognosis of coronary heart disease. Methods: Forty-eight patients with coronary heart disease diagnosed by coronary angiography were studied: ① The levels of Lp-PLA2 and BNP in different coronary lesions; ② The follow-up study was conducted to investigate the cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease under different levels of Lp-PLA2 and BNP rate. Results ① The levels of Lp-PLA2 (P <0.01) and BNP (P <0.05) in the non-severe group were significantly lower than those in the severe group. ② The incidence of cardiovascular events in high Lp-PLA2 group and high BNP group were higher than those in low Lp-PLA2 group (P <0.05) and low BNP group (P <0.01). Conclusions The plasma levels of BNP and Lp-PLA2 can predict the severity and prognosis of coronary heart disease, and should be effectively prevented in patients with high levels of BNP and Lp-PLA2.
