近年来,美、日等国推行纸包饮料,获省工、省料、省费之效。二十多年来,美国、日本等国家,对于商品的流动形成了一种新的概念。即把商品包装同装卸、运输、储存、销售、环境污染联系起来,作为一个整体来对待。提出了让商品“包装趋向零”的口号。所谓“包装趋向零”并不是指不看对象乱搞赤膊商品,而是指在保证商品使用价值的前提下,把包装降低到必要的最低限度。因为这不仅降低产品成本,而是缩小体积,减轻重量,有利于降低装、运、储、销的费用,扩大销路。同时,减少了包装废弃物对于环境的污染。所以让“包装趋向零”几乎使生产者、商人、消费者、环境保护都受益。
