全国共产党员总数超过7000万在3月1日国务院新闻办举行的新闻发布会上,中央保持共产党员先进性教育活动领导小组副组长兼办公室主任、中央组织部副部长欧阳淞在回答记者提问时介绍,截至2005 年底,全国共产党员总数已经达到7080万人。全国目前有党的基层组织352万个,其中基层党委17万个、总支部21万个、支部314万个。 2005年,全国共发展党员247万名,其中发展35岁以下的党员198万名。全国申请入党的人数达到1767万人,发展党员数、35岁以下党员数以及去年全国申请入党的人数均比上年有了一定比例的增长。保持共产党员先进性教育活动开展以来,党组织的影响力和凝聚力进一步增强,申请入党的人数大幅度增加。从目前情况看,在申请入党的年轻人中,绝大多数人入党动机是正确或者是比较正确的。
