The Executive Board of the World Bank approved a loan of 100 million U.S. dollars for the overall urban-rural health project in Chongqing Municipality of China to help 7 million residents in eight districts and counties of Chongqing get close medical services. As elsewhere, there is still a gap between urban and rural areas in the accessibility and quality of health services in Chongqing. Uneven distribution of medical facilities resources, the lack of qualified medical personnel, resulting in poor access to medical and health services in rural areas, low service levels, while there are still residents lack of economic protection of medical services, medical service delivery system, lack of cooperation and other issues.
