The classic Confucian text does depict deep concerns about people’s living conditions and the distribution of material resources. However, Confucianism did not attempt to construct a system of social justice, as the contemporary Western political philosophers did. On the contrary, Confucianism emphasized the material benefits and their distribution Is actually placed in a specific framework that assumes that the nature of the political community is a moral community and that the relationship between the people and the people is an ethical concern for each other. Confucianism reminds us that the principle of purely modern social justice that leaves the sense of community and feeling of care, whether equal or abundant, whose design of an ideal society speaks only half of the story.
