2008年5月12日14时28分04秒,四川省阿坝藏族羌族自治州汶川县发生里氏8.0级地震,造成69227人遇难,374643人受伤,1 7923人失踪。这是中华人民共和国成立以来破坏力最大的地震,也是唐山大地震后伤亡最惨重的一次。地震发生后,《新西部》对这一地处西部地区的特大灾难给予了持续关注,多次派遣记者深入灾区采访灾民和灾后重建情况,发表采访报道数十篇,并先后在2008年5月、6月、地震百日、第一冬以及一周年、两周年、三周年推出专题报道,成为记录汶川地震灾后重建进程时间最长的媒体之一。
At 12:08 on May 12, 2008, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake hit Wenchuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, causing 69,227 people to die, leaving 374,643 injured and 17,923 missing. This is the most devastating earthquake since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the worst casualty since the Tangshan earthquake. After the earthquake, “New West” gave continuous attention to this catastrophic catastrophe in the western region. Many times sent reporters to interview the victims and post-disaster reconstruction in the disaster-stricken areas. Dozens of articles were published and published successively in May 2008 , June, Earthquake 100 days, the first winter and the first anniversary, the second anniversary and the third anniversary of the launch of special reports, a record of Wenchuan earthquake reconstruction process one of the longest time.
