内江市属于传统老工业城市,截止2014年底,内江市第一、第二、第三产业比值为15.8;61.5;22.7,产业结构低级化特征明显。此外,内江市还存在支柱性产业竞争力弱,高新技术产业发展缓慢,人才、技术资源缺乏等问题,阻碍了区域经济的发展。内江市产业结构升级方向应围绕加快传统农业改造、推进落后产能调整、重塑城市形象与功能定位、以新型城镇化为载体、大力发展现代服务休闲业、培养高新技术产业、改善投资和生活环境、提高政府宏观调控能力等几个方面展开。
