卫天霖,字雨三,1898年8月22日生于山西省汾阳县东阳城村,毕生从事美术教育和油画创作,是中国现代油画的先驱者之一。1920至1928年赴日本留学,曾任北京大学造型艺术研究会导师,同时任教于孔德学校,后来担任中法大学孔德文艺学院艺术部主任,上世纪40年代曾在国立北平艺专、华北大学文艺学院和北平私立女子西洋画学校任教,1949年以后先后担任北京师范大学教授、北京艺术师范学院和北京艺术学院副院长、
