Direct addressing of ultrafast integrated circuits with picosecond light pulses has many applications in electronics and data processing. These applications include new ways to characterize the speed of gigahertz logic circuits, contactless diagnostics of problems and faults in complex circuits, and new possibilities for data entry and interconnection in high-speed data processors and supercomputers in the future.
