The present study focuses on the advantages and confusion in the integration of English-speaking Chinese immigrants in Canada. The study hopes to understand the role that proficient language plays in their career development and social inclusion, and in particular how language can help them solve the major problems encountered during their integration. The study discusses Berry’s theory of cultural adaptation, the concept of cultural integration proposed by Boski et al., And the types of immigrant fusion found by Fong & Ooka. The study found through interviews that a skilled language is not the decisive factor for successful integration. Although skilled English can make these immigrants comfortable with workplace co-existence and social separation, it will take time to become a full-fledged participant in Canadian society to fully align their behavior with the expectations of this cultural environment. The study also found that the economic rise of the former immigrants played an irreplaceable role in their integration.
