宝华山耸立在镇江市句容市境内,距市区40余公里。位于宁镇山脉中段,山体连绵起伏,面积约80余平方公里,大小山峰近百座,大都在海拔300——400米之间。主峰高437.2米,气势雄伟,峻秀挺拔,为镇江市最高峰,号称群山之冠。宝华山以林麓秀美,峰峦绮丽,洞泉深幽,烟雾缭绕四大奇境著称江南,蜚声海内外。山顶谷地宝华山一峰崛起,周围36座环绕,山形宛如一朵莲花,故有花山之称。古时因“花”“华”二字通用,亦名华山。梁代高僧宝志登山讲经传
