Citrus leaves repeatedly exposed to containing 1 ~ 2ppm fluorine in the atmosphere, the leaf fluoride accumulation of up to 100 ~ 200ppm unit dry weight. Toxic symptoms of overdose of fluoride accumulation are chlorosis between leaf veins and leaf margins, necrosis of leaf margins in severe cases, and small foliage, with a decrease in yield. Leonard and Graves were partially successful in using lime spray in orange orchards in Florida to reduce chlorosis caused by fluoride. With a mixture of manganese sulfate and urea, and sprayed with hydrated lime water on citrus leaves, after a longer drying period, significant re-greening occurred, but the effects on tree growth and fruit yield were not reported.
