闽台两地佛教和民间信仰渊源深厚。明清以来,大批汉族居民移居台湾,其中不少明末遗臣和僧人在岛内创建草庐,布道传教;闽南居民则将原乡神带入台湾,立庙以祀。台湾的众多寺庙中,弥陀寺与闽北渊源深厚,参与这座寺庙扩建的有来自武夷山的僧人一峰。台湾的寺庙可追溯到明代荷据时期。王礼、陈文达《台湾县志·杂记志九》载:“在广储东里,大道公庙,红毛时建。”广储东里即今台南县新化镇,红毛即荷兰人。王必昌《重修台湾县志》卷六《祠宇志》载:“荷兰
Buddhism and folk beliefs between Fujian and Taiwan are of great origin. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, a large number of Han nationality residents have emigrated to Taiwan. Many of the Ming dynasties and monks created grass cottages and preaching missionaries on the island. Taiwanese residents took the native township gods to Taiwan and established temple worship. Among the many temples in Taiwan, Amitabha Temple is deeply rooted in northern Fujian. One of the monks from Wuyishan participated in the expansion of this temple.
