天津南开中学原名天津南开学校,始建于1904年,是由著名爱国教育家严修和张伯苓创办的系列南开学校的发祥地。1978年被教育部命名为全国重点中学。天津南开学校旧址是国家级重点文物保护单位。学校建筑面积6万余平方米,教学条件一流,师资力量雄厚。经过一个多世纪办学历史的积淀,天津南开中学的毕业生中涌现了以周恩来总理、温家宝总理为杰出代表的一代又一代为国家作出突出贡献的栋梁之材。迄今为止,共有56名中外院士曾先后在天津南开中学就读,外交界、科技界、医学界、文学界、艺术界、教育界、体育界的不少知名人士也都毕业于天津南开中学。
Tianjin Nankai Middle School, formerly known as Tianjin Nankai School, was founded in 1904. It is the birthplace of Nankai School, a series of famous patriotic educators Yan Xiu and Zhang Bofu. In 1978, the Ministry of Education named the national key middle school. The former site of Tianjin Nankai School is a state-level key cultural relics protection unit. The school has a building area of more than 60,000 square meters, first-class teaching conditions, and a strong faculty. After more than a century of accumulation in the history of running schools, graduates from Nankai Middle School in Tianjin emerged as the pillars of outstanding contributions made by generations after generations of Premier Zhou Enlai and Premier Wen Jiabao. To date, 56 Chinese and foreign academicians have successively attended Nankai Middle School in Tianjin. Many celebrities in the diplomatic, scientific, medical, literary, arts, education, and sports circles also graduated from Tianjin Nankai Middle School.
