Objective To find out the risk factors that endanger the physical and mental health of front-line teachers by studying the health status of faculties in a vocational college and put forward specific measures. Methods The data of health examination of staff in a vocational college in 2015 were collected to find three test results with high abnormal detection rate. Combined with the results of individual interviews, the risk factors influencing the high triglyceride level of teachers in higher education were found. The results of abnormal detection rate of the top three higher to lower results were: higher triglycerides (38.97%), body mass index (BMI) exceeded (37.50%), high blood pressure (35.29%); front-line teachers (P <0.05). In the personal interviews, 100% of the first-line teachers who were interviewed were not satisfied with the current job and 57.14% of the administrative staff were not satisfied with the triglyceride status of the school. 100% of the interviewed teachers felt that the work pressure was high, 85.71% felt lack of exercise, and 28.57% felt that the diet break was irregular. Conclusions The first-line teachers’ triglyceride situation is obviously higher than that of the administrative staff of the school. The risk factors that may affect the health of front-line teachers are stressful work, lack of exercise and irregular dietary rest.
