露天矿生产中有穿爆、采装、运输、排土等主要环节。矿山往往重视矿石生产,容易忽视剥离与排土,因而在许多矿山出现剥离欠账,采剥失调,排土场紧张等问题。 随着露天开采技术的发展,剥采比不断增大,剥离的废石量也日趋增加。据统计,全世界每年剥离的废石量达300亿吨左右,美国约为20亿吨,占地面积达8万公顷;苏联矿山排土场占地面积约2.5万公顷;我国为3亿吨,占地6.7万亩。
