V.45, No.5, PP53,55,57, Aug.-Sept. 1989 This paper describes several examples of directional control of a horizontal well section in an oil well.Example 1 deals with a bottom hole assembly used to extend a horizontal wellbore in a thin reservoir. Example 2 presents a horizontal well with unknown geological conditions and irregular pay zones The characteristics of the two sections illustrate the degree of flexibility and adaptability of bottom hole tools that are crucial and demonstrate the importance of advanced bottom hole assemblies in their applications. In the thick pay zone, do not need to extend the well section, as long as the use of conventional rotary drilling tools can be.
