Methods: The models of low zinc, zinc, zinc and high zinc (4 weeks and 7 weeks after birth) were established. Flow cytometry was used to determine the proliferation cycle, the content of DNA and total protein, the content of metallothionein (Metal-lothionein, MT) expression was measured. Results: Compared with normal zinc group, the cell proliferation cycle, DNA and total protein content and MT expression in low zinc group and high zinc group were significantly different (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Conclusion: Zinc significantly affects brain development in young rats and is closely related to the expression of MT
