菲律宾是由7,000多个岛屿组成的千岛国家,国土面积约300,000km~2,人口约5,000万。山地多,平原少,耕地面积约9000kha,占国土面积30％左右。森林面积约14,000kha,加上漫山遍野的椰林、蕉林以及热带果林,因而植被覆盖面积达80％以上。土地为私有制,人均耕地约0.18ha,个体农户为主。农户和兼业农户约占农村人口80％。农产品主要有大米、甘蔗、玉米、甘薯、木薯、豆类、香蕉、芒果、椰子以及许多热带特产。
The Philippines is a Thousand Island nation consisting of more than 7,000 islands, with an area of about 300,000 km2 and a population of about 50 million. More mountains, less plains, arable land area of about 9000kha, accounting for about 30% of land area. With a forest area of about 14,000 kha, plus coconut palms, banana trees and tropical fruit trees that cover the mountains and plains, the vegetation covers an area of over 80%. The land is privately owned, with per capita arable land of about 0.18ha, mainly from individual farmers. Farmers and part-time farmers account for about 80% of the rural population. The main agricultural products are rice, sugar cane, corn, sweet potato, cassava, beans, banana, mango, coconut and many tropical products.
