Both the United States and Sweden are major capitalist countries in the world economic system. They are basically similar in terms of level of economic development, GNP per capita, mixture of different economic sectors and major occupational structures. It goes without saying that the class structure of the two countries is also broadly similar: the working class accounts for about half of the workforce; and the employment outside the working class Workers account for about 40%; the petty bourgeoisie and the bourgeoisie account for less than 15%. This distribution is broadly the same as in most of the major capitalist countries.
