In the past, the value of BM (bone marrow) biopsy in MDS patients was seldom emphasized. The purpose of this study was to analyze morphological features of BM biopsies of 126 patients diagnosed with MDS based on FAB criteria. By applying univariate and multivariate methodologies, the value of histopathologic findings is explored to bring the relevant morphological data into line with factors that may affect survival. 94% of the data suggest that the two are consistent. 72 (57%) males and 54 (43%) females, the median age of 66 years (31-87 years) and 5 patients (4%) under 40 years of age. The median survival for 126 patients was 15.5 months (95% confidence interval, 11.2 and 21.4, respectively). Bone marrow cell components are increased in 63% of cases, especially in refractory anemia with increased blasts (RAEB), refractory anemia with blasts (RAEB-t), and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia ) Cases (P = 0.001).
