家养杜鹃在南方比较容易,在北方就比较为难,原因是太冷太干,加上土壤偏碱性,所以很容易失败。杜鹃喜半荫,喜空气湿润,喜森林里排水良好、腐叶深厚的酸性土,这几点若能满足多半就成功了。杜鹃怕直射阳光整天曝晒,怕不腐熟的肥料(尤其怕粪水),怕天天浇北方常用的微碱性水。北京的自来水属于微碱性水,所以不知不觉就把杜鹃浇死了。
