The cytotoxicity of virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) to virus-infected cells is a major mechanism of host anti-viral infection. This article reports the presence of HIV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes in individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The authors first established a B lymphocyte cell line in experimental and control groups, in which B cells from the experimental group were from 8 HIV-seropositive male gay patients, while B cells from the control group were from 5 HIV-seronegative individuals. These B cell lines were then infected with HIV-vaccinia recombinant virus vector and used as target cells for cytotoxicity assays
