一九八一年八月十一日《光明日报》第一版上有一篇题为“李自成死于何地?”的报道,副标题是“新近出土的文物说明李自成可能死于湖南石门县夹山。”报道说:“湖南石门县夹山寺新近出土的奉天玉大和尚墓内的瓷坛,很可能存放的是明末农民起义军领袖李自成的骨灰。如果此说能成立的话,那么,李自成就不是死于湖北九宫山,而是死于石门县夹山,在世年龄也不是三十九岁,而是约七十岁。”(重点号是笔者加的)我们可以把这一段话看作是一个推论。这个推论的前提是根据“新近出土的文物”所作出的推断,即“湖南石门县夹山……可能存放的是明末
