Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by infection and is an important cause of septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. It has been a major challenge for critically ill medicine, and the mortality rate of diseases is as high as 50% or more . However, mitochondria are an important part of cell oxidation. 95% of the energy required for cell life activities comes from mitochondria. In sepsis, mitochondrial dysfunction of vital organs leads to insufficient cellular bioenergetics and may develop into multiple organ failure [1] . Therefore, mitochondrial damage may be associated with sepsis-induced multiple organ failure [2], this article from mitochondrial damage perspective, to explore the various organs of sepsis injury.
