儒学在本质上是一种什么样的学说?学术界有种种不同意见。或说是伦理本位主义,或说是泛道德主义,或说是道德理想主义。我在1989年7月提交“夏威夷国际中国哲学会第六届年会”的论文《儒家思想的基本特点与发展前景》(载《亚洲文化》第13期)以及稍后出版的《儒家哲学片论》一书中,批评了上述说法的表面性和片面性,而提出了自己的见解。我认为,儒家哲学之最根本的特征就是确立了道德的本体性,它在本质上是一种道德人文主义的哲学。我所谓的“道德人文主义”的基本涵义,
Confucianism is essentially what kind of doctrine? There are different opinions in academia. Or ethnocentrism, or pan-moralism, or moral idealism. In my submission to the 6th Annual Conference of the International Society of Chinese Philosophy in Hawaii in July 1989, “The Basic Features and Prospects of Confucianism” (No. 13 of “Asian Culture”) and later published “Confucian Philosophy Film On the ”one book, criticized the surface and one-sided nature of the above statement, and put forward their own views.
