January 1942 On December 8 last year (1941), Japanese militarists opened the Pacific War with its surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, an hour earlier than the attack on Pearl Harbor, Kota Bharu on the peninsula landed. On the same day, Japanese aircraft bombed Singapore’s airports and ports. Two days later, two major British ships, the “Prince of Wales” and “Enemy” were sunk in the Straits of Malacca.
