2008年北京奥林匹克运动会是中国有史以来第一次举办世界规模的大型体育运动盛会,是所有中国人的骄傲。2003年8月3日,第29届奥运会会徽的揭晓,揭开了2008年奥运会的序幕。本栏目希望能够帮助读者加深对奥运会的了解,同时加强这方面的英语表达能力。本栏目每期选择一个主题,内容分为三个部分:第一部分是有关奥运的历史或时事报导,第二部分则是通过两个人的对话进一步探讨该主题,第三部分“Did You Know?”则是回顾中国在历届奥运会中的优异成绩。本栏目的内容将包括所有的奥运比赛项目,最后还将附上每个比赛项目的中英对照词汇表。北京是国际性的大都会,是世界文化文明之都,希望“奥运英语会话”这个新栏目能够帮助读者朋友提高英语阅读和会话能力,达到“新北京新奥运”的“更快、更高、更强”的理念和目标。
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games is the grand gathering of large-scale sports events that has been held on a world scale for the first time in China. It is the pride of all Chinese people.
