宁城县五化公社姜杖子大队地处丘陵山区。当你走入它的境内大有置身林区之感。全大队八个自然村,八条沟,十六面坡,全都郁郁葱葱,松满山,槐满坡,生机勃勃。可是解放前这里却是另一个样子。满目荒山,植被稀疏,沟壑纵横,零星树木加在一起只有200多亩,水旱灾害不断发生,人民生活没有保障。解放后,经过近二十年坚持不懈地植树造林,有林地面积已达10,000多亩,其中国有林5,100多亩,集体林4,900多亩。杨、柳、松、槐遍布大部山川,自然
