高炉炉前机械化是冶金部提出的攻关项目。设计研制矮身液压泥炮是解决炉前机械化至关重要的课题。目前国内很多高炉仍采用五十年代成型电动泥炮。随着高炉冶炼强度的提高和无水炮泥的推广,旧的电动泥炮在生产实践中暴露出不少缺点,因此,采用结构现代化的矮身液压泥炮来代替现有的电动泥炮已成为现有高炉和新建高炉时必须解决的问题。
