范曾、何家英、刘文西、刘大为、田黎明、冯远、史国良……毫无疑问是中国当代书画画坛的代表人物,同时他们也代表着一个属于人物画的时代。纵观中国美术史,人物画确实鲜有如今这般成为不二的主流绘画风尚,尽管要详细追溯当下出现“人物画大繁荣”的局面的根源颇为复杂,但可以肯定的是,那些近现代美术史上的艺术大师,对奠定人物画繁荣的局面有着不可磨灭的贡献,任伯年与徐悲鸿无疑就是其中的代表者。事实上,任伯年与徐悲鸿是近现代美术史不同的发展时期的两颗璀璨明星:作为清末海派代表人物,任伯年为清末中国画坛注入了新的活力,影响了之后的中国人物画发展;是在传统到现代变革之中脱颖而出的巨匠,他所倡导的中西合璧的写实主义道路,为中国人物画在新时期的发展开辟了新的道路。所以说,中国人物画的发展历史由两位大师伊始,都有了“别开生面”式的发展,那么对这二位重要奠基者于人物画发展的具体贡献的梳理,对我们正确认知与评判当下中国人物画坛,有着清本溯源的意义。
