尹珍,字道真,东汉毋敛县人。毋敛县,东汉时属牂牁郡。据考,汉牂牁郡毋敛县,即今贵州独山、荔波一带。无论是毋敛县,还是牂牁郡,都是汉帝国疆域中落后的地区。所以,当尹珍求学到一定程度时,便痛感自己生长的地方经济文化不发达,制约了学业的进一步提高。只有走出山区,才能长见识、长学问。于是,他怀着求知的激情,不畏艰辛的勇气,千里跋涉,到中原地方拜师求学。
