Japan’s 200-liter steel drums first appeared in the mid-1920s. In 1929, Nippon Oil and Kokura started producing 200-liter oil drums. In the early 1950s, due to the stimulation of the Korean War, the 200-liter steel drum industry in Japan was rapidly developed at a rate of 2.5 million in 1952. However, when the Korean War ceased in 1953, the production of 200-liter steel drums dropped sharply in Japan and the output in 1954 was reduced to 900,000. From the early 1960s to the early 1990s, Japan’s economy grew rapidly over the long term. The output of Japanese petroleum products soared in recent years and the production of 200-liter steel drums also increased continuously.
