“电影人通信”是蓬皮杜中心自2013年推出的电影展览活动系列,每次从不同视点探讨一位杰出电影人的创作,并且会邀请另一位电影导演的作品与之对话。王兵的个展就是在这个框架下举办的,他的展览搭档是与之有着十年友情的西班牙导演杰米·罗塞尔斯。此次展览放映两位艺术家的全部作品。他们的交流点在于对“现代性”的某种揭露——王兵见证了当代中国经济繁荣背后的千百万人精神和物质的极度贫乏;而罗塞尔斯善于挖掘西班牙人日常生活中深海冰山般的情感和为物质异化产生的空虚。
“Filmmaker Communications ” is a series of film exhibitions launched by the Center Pompidou in 2013. Each time, a filmmaker discusses the work of a prominent filmmaker from different perspectives and will invite dialogue with another film director’s work. Wang Bing’s solo exhibition is held under this framework. His exhibition partner is Jamie Rossellles, the Spanish director with whom he has ten years of friendship. This exhibition shows all the works of two artists. Their point of communication lies in some revelation of “modernity ” - Wang Bing has witnessed the extremely poor spirit and substance of millions of people behind the current economic prosperity in China; and Rosers is good at digging the daily life of the Spanish people The deep sea iceberg-like emotion and the emptiness created by material alienation.
