李玉芙出身京剧名家,自小酷爱京剧,1951年入哈尔滨京剧院当学员。由于她天资聪颖,练功刻苦,青年时期已是旦行中的佼佼者。1952年秋她考入北京戏曲学校,专攻梅派表演艺术。梅先生亲自传授了《霸王别姬》、《宇宙锋》、《贵妃醉酒》等梅派代表剧目,并邀请老一代艺术家姜妙香、刘连荣等与李玉芙同台演出。在梅先生的培养下,她的技艺大增。60年代初李玉芙因首演新编历史剧《雏凤凌空》而誉满京都。李玉芙的台风端庄典雅,嗓音甜亮,音域宽广。新时期以来以成熟
