历史上哈尔滨香坊区域的称呼比较多,如“田家烧锅”、“老哈尔滨”、“上号”、“香坊”等。“田家烧锅”是香坊区域出现较早的称呼。相传大约在1805年(嘉庆十年),田保辉兄弟6人从山东省登州府黄县松林田家庄逃荒到吉林省榆树县田家屯投亲谋生,不久田保辉、田炳辉兄弟2人来到哈尔滨香坊区域的东部开荒种地。当时哈尔滨地区归属阿勒楚喀副都统协领衙门管辖,按清政府的规定,汉人不得任意开荒。田家兄弟只得托人以居住在阿城
