Ion probes have been used to study single-crystal zircon particles with a ~ (207) Pb / ~ (206) Pb ratio varying between 15 μm fields (Hinthorne et al., Chemical Geology 25, pp. 271-303: 1979) These specimens were taken from coastal rocks on either side of the Precambrian shield in the Gondwanaland between South Australia and Wilkes-Lands (East Antarctica). Southwest Australia’s rock is collected from the islands of the Recherche archipelago and the coastline of Esperance, Western Australia. They are found on the eastern and southern borders of the Archean Yilgarn block
