84年元月五日至九月,在我国成都市举行《喜马拉雅地质科学国际讨论会》.讨论会是由中、法两国共同商定组织的.从80年起,为期三年的中法合作的《西藏喜马拉雅山地质构造和地壳,上地幔的形成和演化》项目.已于82年结束野外工作.三年来进行了多学科的地学考察,取得了大量的科学资料,为了更好地总结考察成果,并同世界各国地质学家进行广泛交流、讨论而决定在中国举行一次国际性讨论会.参加这次讨论会的中外地质科学家共有300多人.其中,外籍地质科学家有70多人,计有法、英、美、加、印(度)等10个国家的科学家与会,我院有杨遵仪、王鸿祯等8人参加.
