中国共产党党员,著名图书馆事业家、古籍版本目录学家、书法家,上海市第三、第四、第五届人民代表大会代表,上海市第五、第六届政治协商会议常务委员会委员,上海图书馆名誉馆长顾廷龙同志,因病医治无效,于1998年8月22日21时零5分,在北京人民医院不幸逝世,享年95岁。顾廷龙同志1904年11月10日出生于江苏苏州。1931年毕业于上海持志大学,获文学学士学位。1932年毕业于北京燕京大学研究院国文系,获文学硕士学位。之后即投身于图书馆事业,先后担任燕京大学图书馆采访部主任、上海私立合众图书馆总干事、董事。解放后,历任上海图书馆筹备委员会委员、上海市历史文献图书馆馆长、上海图书馆馆长、上海图书馆名誉
A member of the Communist Party of China, a famous library and business cardinalist, an historian of directory books, a calligrapher, a representative of the 3rd, 4th and 5th National People’s Congress of Shanghai, a member of the Standing Committee of the 5th and 6th Political Consultative Conference of Shanghai, Comrade Gu Tinglong, honorary curator of the Shanghai Library, died of ill health at the People’s Hospital of Beijing at 21: 00 on August 22, 1998 at the age of 95. Gu Guolong Comrade was born in November 10, 1904 in Suzhou, Jiangsu. In 1931 graduated fromShanghaiChi Zhi University, received a bachelor’s degree in literature. 1932 graduated from Beijing Yanjing University Institute of Chinese Literature, a master’s degree in literature. After that, he devoted himself to the cause of library. He successively held the posts of director of interview department of Yanjing University Library, director and director of Shanghai Private Library. After liberation, he served successively as a member of the Preparatory Committee of Shanghai Library, Director of Shanghai Historical Documentation Library, Director of Shanghai Library, Reputation of Shanghai Library
