三十年前我去怀化时,怀化还是一个落后而贫穷的湘西小城,治安也让人担忧,火车经过时乘客都不敢打开车窗。三十多年前我便看过阳戏,不过不是怀化的阳戏,而是川东的阳戏。不久前,湖南的同行邀请我去怀化看阳戏,引起了我很大的兴趣,尽管杂务缠身,但依然推却他事,欣然前往。今日的怀化已看不出一点昔日湘西县城的旧貌,完全是一个高楼林立、高速公路和铁路纵横交错的现代化城市。怀化阳戏团的丁丽芬团长和阳戏代表性传承人梁厚芳带我参观了横跨芷江的风
When I went to Huaihua thirty years ago, Huaihua was still a backward and impoverished small town in western Hunan. The law and order was also worrying. Passengers dare not open the windows when the train passes by. Thirty years ago I have seen the Yang Opera, but not the Huaihua Yang Opera, but the eastern Sichuan opera.
