随着我国社会改革事业的不断深化发展,我国的社会阶层发生了巨大变化。特别是市场经济所带来的知识、信息的竞争压力,过去相对封闭的环境所产生的公众对体制的依赖性、依附性已经减弱,独立性、民主性、多元性开始显现。社会越是分化就越需要整合,这种过程就是构建和谐社会的过程。而知识文化体系的建设无疑是和谐社会构建的重要组成部分,也是建设和谐社会的必由之路。两者相辅相成、互为依托。图书馆在打造学习型社会、形成终身学习等文化建设中推动着和谐社会的构建,而和谐社会在构建过程中也会促进图书馆事业的进步和发展,从而形成良性互动。
