西方有人把建筑史称之为“石头写成的历史”,这种评价不无道理。千百年来,无数座人工建筑物就象一部部史书那样,诉说着各个时代的经济发展水平、社会的意识形态以及人们的审美观。建筑以它本身特有的形式及色彩构成了特殊的旋律,在人类历史的交响曲中奏出了强有力的音节。同时,建筑艺术也同其他艺术门类一样,成为人类文明史上一个重要的组成部分。在这个石头构成的旋律中,有一些辉煌而不朽的音符。金字塔便是其中一个。在古埃及的尼罗河畔,人们用巨大的石灰岩石块砌筑了一座座锥形的法老陵墓——金字塔。这些硕大无朋的锥形体,设计得十分科学,不仅形状给人以稳定感,而且当狂风肆虐时,可沿塔壁向上引导,形成盘旋而上的旋风,
