白族是祖国西南边疆古老的民族之一,主要分布在云南,百分之八十以上居住在大理白族自治州,湖南桑植县、四川西昌地区以及贵州华节地区也有少量的分布。据统计,白族的民间舞蹈约有七十余种.按照活动性质划分.有娱乐性和祭祀性两大类。娱乐性舞蹈有“霸王鞭舞”、“八角鼓舞”等;祭祀性舞蹈有“羊皮鼓舞”、“巫舞”、“手巾舞”等,而其中最具代表性和流传最广的是霸王鞭舞,它不仅在“绕三灵”、“田家乐”和“闹春王正月”等民俗活动中存在,而且在
