This article reports the epidemic of an outbreak of typhoid fever caused by a source of co-infection that occurred between December 1975 and February 1976 in Sangri, Maharashtra, India. It is estimated that more than 9,000 cases were reported among 135,000 people in the city during the period. It is believed that this may be the largest one ever hitherto reported together in the world.
