Objective To understand the effect of sleep quality on the blood pressure of inpatients with hypertension in both Han and Uygur nationalities so as to make clinical treatment and nursing more pertinence. Methods Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate the sleep quality of 380 inpatient hypertensive patients in Victoria and Han nationalities and to compare the blood pressure levels in Victoria and Han patients. Results 61.8% of Uighur hypertensive patients had poor sleep, and 76.3% of Han patients had poor sleep. The scores of sleep quality of Uighur hypertension patients were lower than those of Han patients (P <0.01). Conclusion The sleep quality of Uighur hypertensive patients is better than that of Han nationality. Poor sleep can elevate the blood pressure of the patients. According to this, clinical treatment and nursing can be targeted to reduce blood pressure and meet the needs of different ethnic patients.
