[Objective] To compare the chemical components of essential oils extracted from Cymbopogon citratus(DC.) Stapf.by different methods.[Method] The essential oils were extracted by supercritical CO2 fluid extraction(SFE-CO2) and steam distillation(SD).The qualitative and quantitative analyses were made on the chemical components of essential oils by GC-MS.[Result] A total of 31 chemical components were identified from Cymbopogon citratus(DC.) Stapf.by supercritical CO2 fluid extraction,accounting for more than 91% of essential oils.There were 17 chemical components from C.citratus by steam distillation that occupied over 94% of essential oils.The essential oils extracted from C.citrates by 2 methods varied greatly in chemical components and content.Of these,the content of geranial and citral was the highest.[Conclusion] The essential oils got by SFE-CO2 method can reflect the chemical components of the medicinal materials more accurately and more comprehensively.
