封面故事:南船北马是地处苏北腹地淮安市的大型城市雕塑,三片钢架结构的白色船帆高耸入云,一群青铜铸造的乌色骏马穿越其间,底座上篆书八个大字:“南船北马九省通衢”。说起这“南船北马九省通衢”还真有一番来历。历史悠久的文化名城淮安,地处淮河与大运河的交汇之地,在中国古代漕运和交通史上,被视为襟喉要地。明清两代负责运输的漕运总督署和负责河防要务的河道总督署都曾设置于此。南方的物资、商客船运至此改由车马转向北方,故有“南船北马”之称。
