In order to investigate the gender differences in relationship between pensiveness and forgiveness, 128 college students were employed in this study, using the invasive thinking component of CIES - Chinese Impact of Event Scale - Revised (Intrusiveness Subscale) to measure the general level of contemplation of the subjects, and indirectly measure the level of forgiveness using TRI (Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivation Inventory) developed by McCullough et al. In 1998 . The results showed that: 1) There was a significant positive correlation between the level of meditation and the level of retaliation motivation. 2) There was no significant gender difference in the level of contemplation and level of forgiveness. 3) Gender plays a regulatory role in the relationship between pensiveness and forgiveness: in women, the level of contemplation is significantly related to the level of forgiveness; whereas in men, there is no significant correlation between the two.
