棕榈经济价值高,但生长较慢,六、七年后才可剥取棕皮,而二、三十年后生长衰退,棕皮产量显著下降。江西省上犹县清湖公社清湖大队的贫下中农,为了更新老棕榈,在1957——1958年进行了棕榈栽尾试验,成活率达100％,长势很好,三年生最高达4.8公尺,根际直径最大为4.5寸,比十年前栽苗的还要高大。现将他们的做法简介于下: 1.选择日照时间较短的屋前、屋后或山窝、田坎的肥沃湿润的黑色土壤栽植。 2.一年四季都可以栽植,但以立春前较好。
